Please do not forget to sign up for first quarter conferences! The dates available are October 24 and October 25.  We will use this time to discuss your child's progress in reading, writing, math, and Spanish.  We will also address any concerns we may have.  We look forward to meeting with each of you!

Meet our new class pet! Her name is Bella, based on the frogs name of a Magic School Bus episode we watched in Spanish to launch our science unit on Frogs.  Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning about the life cycle of a frog. We will get to watch Bella transform from a tadpole to a frog!

Our butterflies (mariposas) came out of their cocoons (capullos) today! The students were so excited to see them start as caterpillars (orugas) and transform to butterflies.  We will be setting them free tomorrow in the garden.  We will also continue our lessons on butterflies throughout next week and finish our butterfly projects.

I am happy to say we had a very successful first week of school!  Not only did I manage to get the classroom ready for 49 adorable students, but we also had a very productive three days of review, established routines, and built relationships.  I am so excited for this upcoming school year.  I have a group of very sweet, eager to learn, enthusiastic students this year.  Parents, please look this week for your child's binder.   They will be going home with the students starting on Monday, August 26. In these binders, you will find review sheets for important Spanish words, as well as a class sheet of what we did that day for Math.  For homework, please practice these Spanish words nightly and review the Math sheets with your child.

I just got back last night from a wonderful week in Utah and Tampa to see my husband graduate.  Utah was amazing!!  I am so excited to start the school year with an amazing group of staff members.  The conference was a perfect way for me to get to know everyone and learn a lot about the immersion program.  I got to see the materials I would be using this school year, as well as learn some important strategies.  We also got to have some fun too!  Here are some pictures from our trip.
